A come back...

Following the first match of the season against Abingdon which was a huge wake up call and defeat, Barton well and truly bounced back today.

With a new formation of 2-4-2, playing to our strengths and a better understanding of the new rules (even better than the ref today ?) we upped our game.

Our performance and the actual game did not reflect the result and we did not deserve the loss today... but it's football and how it goes sometimes.

First 30 minutes were end to end, both teams battled well. Hope, Kimora, Georgia and Lottie all had great shots on goal that went just past the posts.

Kelis and Imogen started off in defence and tagged teamed well, great communication between the two, keeping Crowmarsh at bay for the vast majority of the first half. Tihana came right off her line diving down on the floor to secure the ball multiple times showing great courage while boots were flying in her face. Goal kicks today were sailing up the pitch which allowed us to confidently push up.

Crowmarsh caught us on the break and scored a cracking goal that we could do very little about.

HT 1-0 Crowmarsh

Second half we continued the pace and determination to get one back. The midfield passed and communicated well, Katie and Kimora very quick and technical, getting busy in the middle, trying to push it out to the wings to Hope and Georgia.

Lottie showed great strength in the midfield and made some fanatic tackles today, her presence in the centre allowed us to push forward. Bonnie listened and watched the game putting herself into good positions and had a couple chances through on goal. Very unlucky.

Crowmarsh strikers were permanently offside today, unfortunately we didn't play to the whistle and twice allowed goals to slip past us thinking the ref would call it. Crowmarsh were awarded 2 goals. A lesson that we take forward to next weeks match against Cumnor.

Despite this we pressed on, the midfield again working hard created an opportunity for Kimora to smash a goal in for Barton. 3-1

A quick change of defence saw Emma, who was first to the ball on a number of occasions, put some great balls through to Georgia who quickly stormed down the wing.

Crowmarsh knew full well what was coming and sat 7 players in defence for the last 15 minutes. This didn't stop Barton and with great through balls from Chrissy, Emma and Kelis we applied great pressure with Hope, Lottie and Kimora narrowly missing out on a few goals. Incredibly frustrating but just too many bodies in the box to see the wood through the trees.

FT
3 Crowmarsh - 1 Barton
