Barton V Launton

Barton United faced Launton for their second game of the season. Barton like last week were quick off the mark and managed to score their first goal within the first few minutes, some fantastic passing from right side of the pitch, Edie to Georgia finished off nicely by Sophie on the left 1-0 Barton.

Shortly after kick off, Edie once again storming down the right hand side, challenging Launton's back line, she couldn't be stopped, confidently hits the back of the net bringing Barton to 2-0.

Launton now settling into the game after a tricky start, managing to penetrate Barton's half, some strong play through the middle saw them with a shot on goal, comfortably saved by Tihanna.

Playing just 3 at the back meant that Barton pressed high and was always on the attack, nice little ball over from Izzy to Kimora who put in a lovely cross, just narrowly missing the 3 other players who were in the box, very unlucky not be another goal.

Barton however switched off for a few minutes and some miscommunication and organisation towards the back saw them gift Launton a goal 2-1.

Launton now moving the ball around with confidence, some great play within the midfield. Barton however responded quickly, Georgia managing to regain possession and holding the ball in the box, with pressure from Katie and Antonia who had a shot, rebound off the keeper straight to Kimoras feet and from that distance and position was only ever going to find the back of the net 3-1 Barton.

Barton continued to be on the attack, some attempts on goal saw Barton with a corner, taken by Kimora, ball passed back out to Sophie on the left who saw her opportunity to secure her second goal of the game HT 4-1 Barton.

Launton started the second half well, with a cracking shot at Tihanna who did extremely well to save it and kept Launton from scoring another.

Ella now positioned in the midfield pushing the team further forward which was difficult for Launton to manage, no subs saw the Launton girls dig deep, never giving up.

Sophie with the corner straight into the box, Katie hitting it accurately on the volley, keeper who had an outstanding game, with her quick reaction, saved!

Bit of change from Barton for last 15mins, team captain Hope moved up the pitch with Kimora now on the back line, with very little getting past her, Claudia and Izzy meant Launton remained with just the one goal despite their best efforts until the very end.

Hope very quickly getting herself on the score sheet, after a rebound shot from Katie 5-1. Hope didn't stop there, Launton giving her too much time and space on the ball, she looks up outside of the box and lobs the keeper, fantastic finish.

Players of the match:
Edie: Was a force on the right side of the pitch, tracking all the way back and also driving the team forward, contributed heavily to play, never gave up, the skill on the ball and position off the ball meant she was unstoppable.

Kimora: incredible strength, her work rate was 100% at all times, play maker in the midfield and outstanding overall performance.
